Join us for our first jiu jitsu retreat led by black belts Rene Sousa and Kyvann Gonzalez!
Flo is excited to be teaming up with local academy Jungle Matt Combat & Wellness for a week of submission grappling in the open air, surrounded by the backdrop of the jungle rainforest!
This retreat will focus on developing submission grappling and self defense skills and techniques for people of all skill levels and training backgrounds.
Experience our hosts’ unique and modern approach to teaching and skill development, emphasizing task-based situations and focused situational games to exponentially improve your submission grappling!
This is a great opportunity for beginners to jumpstart their training and for more experienced grapplers to level up their skill set.
Throughout the week we will live, eat, train, and learn together in an environment that promotes rejuvination, growth, and connection!
Meet The Hosts

Rene Sousa
Rene is a BJJ black belt currently teaching at 10th Planet Bethlehem and 10th Planet Allentown.
Rene is a former D3 collegiate wrestler and an accomplished professional submission grappling competetor.
What motivates him to teach Jiujitsu is that it gives him the ability to empower people and help them live as the best version of themselves.

Kyvann Gonzales
Kyvann is a black belt and owner/instructor at Bodega Jiu Jitsu in Maplewood, NJ.
When he is not at his acedemy in New Jersey you can catch him competing and teaching seminars throughout the NY metro area.
Kyvann loves to bring his students a unique, creative, and modern approach to learning jiu jitsu that facilitates rapid skill development.

COST
Flō Retreat Center in Uvita, Costa Rica. Flō is about 3.5km above central Uvita, a town on the South Pacific coast that is 3.5 hours from SJO airport in San Jose. A 4×4 car is required for the drive up from Uvita, but we highly recommend using our shared shuttle service for direct transport from the airport to our front door. Exact directions are provided for those who prefer to make their own way to Flō during the appropriate check in window.
Main House Shared Lodging: $1,799
The main house has 4 bedrooms and 2 shared bathrooms. Each bedroom is equipped with 2 bunks (4 single beds). All rooms come with AC, ceiling fans, mini refrigerators, bedding, storage space, and high speed WiFi.
Cacao Forest/Riverwalk Private Lodging: $2,199 or $2,899
All private rooms are equipped with sliding glass doors, queen/full beds, private bathrooms, AC, ceiling fans, refrigerator access, bedding, storage space, and high speed WiFi. Great options for couples, friends who don’t mind sharing a bed, and individuals looking for a bit more space and privacy.

Traveling as a pair? Want a private space? Stay at Flō in a private Queen room! This ticket price is per person, please purchase two tickets if you’d like this option! If you are traveling alone and would still like your own Private Room, please purchase a Single Occupancy Private Room!
Jiu Jistu Retreat Single Occupancy Private Room - $2,899
Want total privacy? Stay in a Queen Bed Room with a private bathroom all by yourself! To stay in a private room all by yourself, purchase this ticket.
*A $600 non refundable deposit is required to secure your spot at Flō regardless of what room you choose. The Final payment will be due three months before the event.
